Description

Whitelist Request

  • Name of the game to be whitelisted: Echo of Soul
  • Steam AppID of the game: 972170

System Information

I confirm:

  • that pressing the Play button in the Steam client is sufficient.
  • that runtime config options are necessary to run the game.
  • that no workarounds other than PROTON_* env variables are necessary.

Issues

  • I haven't experienced any issues.
  • There are no issues left open for this game.
  • Although I consider the gaming experience equal to Windows there are remaining issues: Low FPS.

Notes

Echo of Soul installs, starts and works without any issues except performance.
This game uses Direct3D 9 API so wine's D3D9 -> OpenGL translator is used which is slow. A gallium-nine support or DXUP (d3d9-dev branch) would help performance a lot.

Research direction

Start by reviewing how Proton tracks whitelist requests for Steam games, using Steam AppID 972170 and the reported Echo of Soul behavior as the reference. Confirm whether the request is only a record of compatibility or requires a project change; done means the game's whitelist status and the reported low-FPS limitation are accurately represented.
