Symptoms

Hello there, first up couple of things:
A) I know this game has been retired from Steam but it is a decent game and probably in quite a few people's game libraries.
B) The game CAN run, but it just has two minor issues, I believe that reporting these issues could potentially help with diagnosing other similar issues, particularly it's note worthy the issues reveal a regression in Proton.
C) This is my first submitted Issue I've reported, if I left out something important let me know.

There are two issues with this game to report.

.Net Framework Issue
I had difficulty installing this game. Upon running, like many other games, it stopped at the .NET Framework and didn't finish installation.

However I was able to get around that strangely by reverting back to the earliest version of Proton available to me on Steam, Proton 3.7-8. When I tried to run the game again, the installation finished. I then tested the game in both Proton 3.7-8 and Proton 3.16-6 Beta, and it ran near perfectly fine in both, aside from the second issue below.

Controller Support
The game does not appear to work with default settings for Steam at all with my controller (Logitech F710), regardless of the Proton version used.

However there is a fix for this too!

I was able to get the game to recognise and work with my controller by going to the game's Properties, and setting 'Steam Input Per-Game Setting' to 'Forced Off'. With that setting, the game works.

Aside from those two issues, the game seems to run perfectly fine. The regression is interesting however, and the lack of controller support with the default setting, is odd too, my controller works in everything else I've tried so far.

Reproduction

.Net Framework Issue
Use version 3.16-6 Beta of Proton to install game.

Controller Issue
Run the game.

Research direction

Start with the linked steam-207210.log and reproduce installation with Proton 3.16-6 Beta, then compare it with Proton 3.7-8. Check both the .NET installation failure and the controller behavior using default Steam Input settings. Done means the causes are identified and both reported compatibility problems are resolved or narrowed to a specific component.
