Symptoms

Graphics stutter every few seconds, possible indication of some triple buffering issue, or some issue with my Gnome-shell Wayland session.

Game locks up with music looping in the background when switching to fullscreen or windowed fullscreen mode.

Reproduction

The lock up happens every time I attempt to switch the game into fullscreen mode. Note that it takes a full progression through the game's tutorial before you even get to the home planet to be able to change the video mode from the default of 1280x720 windowed, and if you lock the game up before saving (it's 100% manual), then you have to repeat the tutorial to get to the menu again.

EDIT - Important note

This only affects Wayland sessions. The game seems to work perfectly under Gnome Xorg. These are probably bugs with XWayland and not specifically Proton.

Start with the attached steam-848350.log and compare the reported behavior in the Gnome Wayland and Gnome Xorg sessions. Reproduce the tutorial progression, then test fullscreen or windowed-fullscreen switching and the recurring graphics stutter; done means these symptoms no longer occur under Wayland.
