I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

Game won't start, no splash screen, no sound/music, no menu screen. It switches to a black full screen for a split second, and then crashes to desktop.

Reproduction

  1. Install game from within Steam client.
  2. Click Play in the Steam client.
  3. Game won't start.

Discussion

This is a old 2D game, so I was expecting it to work, but it doesn't.
The game is not sold on the Steam store anymore.

There are a lot of similar "Dash" time-management games by this developer PlayFirst, the most popular of which was the Diner Dash series.

Because those other Dash games look and feel so similar to each other, I guess that those games share a common engine/framework. So maybe fixing Parking Dash helps those other games too.

References:

I checked for related games in the "Dash"-series on ProtonDB, but there are no reports filed yet.

The only Dash games from PlayFirst that are still sold on the Steam store are:

  • Hotel Dash™ Suite Success™ (49000)
  • Wedding Dash® 2: Rings Around the World (37280)
  • Diner Dash:® Hometown Hero™ (37240)
  • Fitness Dash™ (37340)
  • Cooking Dash® (37220)
  • Diaper Dash® (37230)

Research direction

Start with the attached Proton log, the linked system-information report, and the listed reproduction steps to investigate why Parking Dash exits after launch. Done would mean identifying and resolving the launch failure so the game reaches its menu, but the issue does not name a source file, test, or specific subsystem to change.
