Description

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Fairy Fencer F
  • Steam AppID of the game: 347830

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

steam-347830.log

Symptoms

Game fails to start. It outputs a black screen and crashes immediately.

Reproduction

Try to start game.

Other thoughts

Doesn't work in regular wine either. Setting PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 doesn't make a difference.

Installing quartz through winetricks makes the window stay open, but it's a frozen empty window that accepts no input.

Sad thing is this game apparently used to work according to WineHQ.

Research direction

Start by reviewing steam-347830.log and the linked system information report, then reproduce the launch failure with Proton 4.16.3 beta. Compare the behavior of the regular Wine and quartz experiments described in the report. Done means Fairy Fencer F launches past the black screen and accepts input.
