Symptoms

The game doesn't start when the Play button is pressed. Steam shows the game's status as "running" only for a few moments.
No log is generated in the home directory despite logging being turned on in the user_settings.py file.
EDIT: I switched to 3.7-6 non-beta and now a log was created for some reason.

Attempt to launch the game.

This seems to be a known bug in Wine.

Read the attached steam-61700.log and the linked Wine bug 30244 first; no source file or failing test is identified in the report. A contributor would need to reproduce the launch failure and locate the relevant Proton/Wine compatibility path; done is a fix verified by successfully launching the game.
