- Steam AppID of the game: 243220
System Information
- GPU: GTX 860M
- Driver/LLVM version: NVIDIA 396.54
- Kernel version: 4.17.19-200.fc28.x86_64
- Link to full system information report: Not Quite a Gist But Hopefully More Useful
- Proton version: 3.7-6 Beta
I confirm:
- that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
I'm hosting the Proton log on my own server because it has an absolutely unholy number of NtStatusToWSAError log messages. I kid you not, this uncompresses to 2.3GB, so get your disk ready:

Symptoms
FRACT OSC launches and runs, but with steamcompmgr nothing is rendered to the screen. The problem appears to be that the D3D device gets lost and does not recover, at least not for Unity 3.x games (which FRACT OSC falls under). The game log has a whole bunch of these:
HandleD3DDeviceLost
HandleD3DDeviceLost: still lost
Skipped rendering frame because GfxDevice is in invalid state (device lost)
Worth noting that this is on Fedora 28 with steamcompmgr. On Fedora 28 with GNOME, everything is okay.
Reproduction
- Boot SteamOS session (or any Linux session with steamcompmgr)
- Run FRACT OSC
- Window should open, game should run with audio in the background...
- ... but screen is black!

Research direction
No repository files or tests are identified. Reproduce FRACT OSC under steamcompmgr with Proton 3.7-6 Beta, compare it with GNOME, and investigate the reported device-lost messages; done means the game renders instead of showing a black screen.
