Symptoms
The issue this game has are as follows.
- Graphical artifacts on Proton 11.0 or newer. (fixed in bleeding edge as of 10/09/2026)
- Frequent stuttering.
- When making fine mouse movements the cursor likes to move to the top left of the primary display.
Reproduction
Graphical artifacts on Proton 11.0 or newer. (fixed in bleeding edge as of 10/09/2026)
- Load up the mission "Birds of prey"
- Play to the point when you first get out of the helicopter
Reverting back to Proton 9.0-4 fixes this issue.
Frequent stuttering
This is self explanatory.
When making fine mouse movements the cursor likes to move to the top left of the primary display
- Be either in the menu or ingame and jiggle the mouse left and right rapidly.
- Observe the mouse slowly migrate up and to the left.
This is potentially an XWayland issue as forcing the Wine-Wayland driver in a Proton version such as CachyOS Proton fixes this issue.
Note: This is not the only game to be effected by this issue. call of duty games using the IW engine from Cod 1 - MW Remaster are affected.

Research direction
Start with the attached steam-209160.zip log and the listed reproduction steps, comparing behavior on Proton 11.0-2 and Proton 9.0-4. Check the reported XWayland/Wine-Wayland distinction for the mouse issue and separate it from stuttering and artifacts. Done means each symptom has a confirmed status or a focused follow-up with reproducible evidence.
