Symptoms

The game does not launch under Proton. It exits during initialization with a
Win32 message box:

The program encountered E111000B at 00003498 during initialization.
Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!

This is not a Proton bug and I am not filing it as one. skate. ships EA
Javelin Anticheat, a Windows kernel-mode anti-cheat, and it detects Wine,
Proton and Steam Deck and refuses to initialize. The check happens before the
game loads anything else, so no Proton version, launch option or driver
changes the outcome.

The game directory contains EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe,
EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe and EAJavelinInstaller_installscript.vdf.
EAAntiCheat.cfg is, despite the extension, a signed PE binary whose
certificate chain reads "Electronic Arts, Inc. / EA SPEAR AntiCheat
Engineering".

Full Circle and EA confirmed publicly in September 2025 that skate. will not
support Linux, Steam Deck or macOS.

I'm filing this so the blocker is findable for anyone who tries the game on
Linux, and so the tracker reflects reality. There is nothing for Valve to fix
here — enabling a Linux path for Javelin is a decision on EA's side.

Reproduction

1. Install skate. (appid 3354750) and force any Proton version.
2. Launch.
3. The dialog above appears within a few seconds; the game never starts.

Reproducible on every Proton version tried, including Experimental.

Reproduce app 3354750 with any Proton version and confirm the initialization dialog described in the report. Review the listed anti-cheat files and the cited public support statement; done means determining whether a Proton-side action exists, rather than changing code without an EA-supported Linux path.
