Research direction

Reproduce the issue with VSCodeVim v1.30.1 in VS Code 1.102.3 using a Jupyter notebook on Linux, then trace Escape handling for the notebook cell editor and its multi-cursor state. Done means pressing exits multi-cursor mode before leaving the cell editor.
