I want to create an extension that displays vim marks on the sidebar with some context (contents of the line).
I'd like an API to expose the vimState so I can access the marks. Alternatively, implementing the sidebar idea itself would be alright.
It would still be nice to have the API for others to access the vim state though.

An API to expose the vimState or an API to see marks set or a sidebar showing marks set, I realise there is issue #5073 but it's a bit old.
