Description

Some languages (as Julia) allow unicode characters as 𝒟, 𝐄, Λ, ñ, Ø and many others.
If the document contains unicode characters, then VSCodeVim does weird and strange things:

  • wrong hjkl movements,
  • wrong easymotion jumps,
  • ‘x’ or ‘r’ will delete wrong, i.e., offset (displaced) characters.

Would be nice to fix that.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Begin by reproducing the reported behavior with Unicode characters such as 𝒟, ñ, and Ø, then trace the movement, easymotion, deletion, and replacement paths. Done means hjkl, easymotion, x, and r operate on the intended characters without offsets.
