Can’t switch to normal mode on mobile safari.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Load VSCode in mobile safari with vim mode enabled

  3. Attempt to switch from insert mode to normal mode with escape or a remapped binding (on iPad OS, escape is mapped to CMD + . by default)

  • Extension (VsCodeVim) version:
  • VSCode version:
  • OS:

Additional context

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in VSCodeVim on GitHub Codespaces with mobile Safari or iPadOS, using both Escape and the remapped CMD + . binding. Compare the event behavior with macOS Safari and the desktop app; done means insert mode switches to normal mode in the mobile environment.
