Description

Trying to map keybinding "Ctrl+" to quit from insert mode. My config looks like this:

"vim.insertModeKeyBindings": [
	{
		"before": [ "<C-\\>" ],
		"after": [ "<Esc>" ]
	}
]

It doesn't work this way. Also it's not possible to set "C-". How to fix it?

VsCodeVim: 1.16.0
VSCode: 1.48.2

Research direction

Start by reproducing the insert-mode mapping from the issue in VSCodeVim 1.16.0 with VSCode 1.48.2, checking both the JSON configuration and the reported inability to set C-. Trace the keybinding handling until the backslash combination is parsed, and consider the issue done when Ctrl+\ reliably maps to Escape from insert mode.
