Research direction

Start by reproducing the cursor movement slowdown in VS Code 1.39.2 with VsCodeVim 1.9.0 on Linux Mint, following the startup and editing steps in the report. Compare movement after the editor has been running for some time, and identify a reproducible condition and scope for the lag. Done means cursor movement is consistently fluent in the affected scenario.
