Description
Describe the bug
If I have multiple projects open and I switch between them the status bar will not update to reflect the correct mode in the current project even if the current project has no open editor windows.
To Reproduce
Open multiple projects and editor windows in each and try what I describe above.
Expected behavior
I expect the status bar to reflect the mode of the current editor.
Environment (please complete the following information):
VS Code: Version 1.33.1 (1.33.1)
Mac OS: High Sierra 10.13.6
Vim Plugin: v1.4.0

Research direction
Reproduce the issue by opening multiple projects and editor windows, then switching contexts with and without an open editor. Trace the status-bar update path in the TypeScript extension; done means the status bar reflects the current editor's mode after every switch.
