[Question] How to use max_memory_restart option safely?

Scenario
I'm running a Node.js web application using pm2 cluster mode as a load balancer. I am also planning to use pm2's max_memory_restart option. So if one of the instances exceed a certain memory usage, it restarts itself.
Concern
My concern is that if one of my endpoints has some memory intensive usage. Say it goes above the memory limit configured in pm2's max_memory_restart, then the instance could restart itself amidst processing abruptly which could be critical.
How to safely use this option in such scenarios?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
