- https://github.com/OwlCarousel2/OwlCarousel2 OwlCarousel is unmaintained since 2018
- the project recommends https://github.com/ganlanyuan/tiny-slider tiny slider which does not even need jquery
- when checking the aria guidelines for carousels (https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/patterns/carousel/), i found owl carousel to not follow these and likely not implemented due to the project being abandoned
