Description

Currently the Activity Mitigators 'Summary totals' table (which is included to help scheme's consider prioritisation of mitigators) lists the top 18(?) mitigators by their counts of activity in the baseline year.

My understanding is that schemes seem mostly interested in prioritising mitigators based on their potential impact on bed days - would it make more sense to list the top 20 mitigators by their number of bed days in the baseline year?

There might be more sophisticated ways of displaying this in future (e.g. by PoD, listing top 10 Admission avoidance mitigators where you could toggle between showing admissions and bed days, top 10 IP effeciency mitigators where toggle between bed days and average LoS?, top 5 OP & A&E mitigators with counts of activity).

However, in first instance, would it be possible (@matt-dray) and more helpful to schemes to list their top 20 (or so) mitigators by their associated bed days in baseline year?

@DCEW & @Rachel-Caswell do you think this is something that could be raised in feedback work with schemes?

Research direction

Locate the Activity Mitigators “Summary totals” table and trace how its baseline-year rankings are calculated. Check whether associated bed days are available for each mitigator, then verify that the completed table ranks roughly the top 20 mitigators by baseline bed days.
