Research direction

Start by reviewing the unchecked items in this checklist, especially issue #81 and the documentation website tasks. Confirm which December 2023 tasks are still relevant and identify the documentation source and release-update process before beginning. Done means the remaining checklist items are completed or explicitly closed with the issue status updated.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.
