Description
We should check-in the code style into the repo - at least for IntelliJ.
This would help massively with keeping the code formatted correctly and we could maybe also remove the stupid checkstyle check that is ALWAYS executed when doing anything and only run it in the CI.

Research direction
Start by comparing the referenced .idea directory and .gitignore entries from standard-maven-template with this repository's current setup. Then trace where the checkstyle check is configured and invoked, and define done as having the IntelliJ style committed while preserving checkstyle enforcement in CI rather than on every local action.
