Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It's very difficult to control the app with the up/down/left/right buttons of a TV remote.
For example, if I have a file selected, it's easy to select another file in the same folder. If I have a file selected and I want to select another thing outside the file list, it's very hard to select something out of the file list (and sometimes nothing is shown selected on screen, so the user doesn't know were the cursor is).
Describe the solution you'd like
Intuitive control using the up/down/left/right buttons of a TV remote.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Using a bluetooth mouse connected to the Android TV, this works no problem.
Additional context
I've tried this on Android Boxes, Android Sticks and Android TVs, brands Xiaomi, MEO and Kunft. The problem is the same in all of them.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First reproduce the navigation problem on an Android TV using directional buttons, then trace the app's focus and selection behavior; done means up/down/left/right navigation visibly and intuitively reaches items outside the current file list.
