Description

I am attempting to run Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS on Bizhawk, following these steps:

  1. Delete Users\3DS folder for clean slate
  2. Launch Mii Maker ROM and create my Personal Mii
  3. Exit out of Mii Maker ROM and load SMM ROM

On the first launch of the game in this sequence, everything runs fine and works perfectly. However, if I close the game and attempt to reopen it, the title screen first displays the incorrect day of the week (Thursday instead of Wednesday), and is then infinitely stuck on the screen of Yamamura eating. It seems worth noting that my "Use Temp Folder for Movies" 3DS setting is set to false, and that my ROM worked perfectly fine just earlier today.

My SMM ROM works perfectly fine on Azahar across launches, but I'd quite like to use BizHawk, as it has superior TASing tools. I am willing to provide any additional information I can.

Bizhawk version 2.11.1, Windows 11

Research direction

Start by reproducing the reported sequence in BizHawk 2.11.1 on Windows 11: create a Personal Mii in the Mii Maker ROM, launch Super Mario Maker 3DS, close it, and launch it again. Compare the first and subsequent launches, including the displayed weekday and the Yamamura eating screen. Done means repeated launches no longer show the incorrect day or remain stuck.
