Description

Core: PPSSPP
Game: Dragon's Lair (PSP)
Issue: Game hangs on a black screen when attempting to start gameplay.
Details: The game boots correctly and the main menus are fully functional. However, as soon as "Start Game" (or equivalent) is selected to begin the first scene, the screen goes black and the game fails to progress.

Repro
Load Dragon's Lair (PSP) using the PPSSPP core.

Navigate through the initial screens to the Main Menu.

Select "Start Game" or "New Game".

Result: The screen turns black and stays there indefinitely. No audio from the first scene is heard.

Output
The game remains in a running state according to the emulator, but no video frames are rendered and no errors are thrown in a dialog box.
Host env.
BizHawk dev build at 227bb47d7f1ef854c2ba99d0cac2c7693c845fd2; Windows 11

Research direction

Start by reproducing the failure with the PPSSPP core using Dragon's Lair on the listed BizHawk Windows 11 build, following the Main Menu and Start Game steps. Trace the core's transition into the first scene and compare the result with the reported black screen. Done means gameplay begins with rendered video and audio instead of remaining in a running state.
