Description

I don't like how "New from Now" automatically saves to a generic derivate file name 'PreviousProjectName 1'.

This is not a problem with traditional movies: they actually let you choose the file name.

Of course, you could make the argument that the efficiency of not having to choose the file name is a convenience, but I would argue automatically choosing a generic file name for the user is counterproductive in the majority of cases. Or you could say to rename the file if you don't like the name, but that still leaves the original file around (or requires closing TAStudio and reopening a file with a different name).

Research direction

Start by locating TAStudio's "New from Now" command and the save flow it invokes. The change is done when this action lets the user choose the new file name instead of automatically using the generic "PreviousProjectName 1" name, while preserving the existing traditional-movie behavior.
