Description

@lfrank have propose this

probe material (silicon, polyimide, SU-8, etc.)
electrode material (platinum, iridium, gold, etc.)
electrode plating (PEDOT, etc.)
probe thickness (I didn’t see this as something that could be added, but I may have missed it)

Finally, some probes have built in electronics (e.g. Neuropixels, the polymer probes we’re working on) so having a place for
optional information about the electronics would be great.

Research direction

The issue does not name any files, tests, or entry points. Begin by reviewing the existing probe representation for layout, geometry, and wiring, then determine how the requested material, thickness, plating, and optional electronics metadata should fit; completion would require an agreed scope and data design.
