Description
How should we track the recent items so we can display them later.
- Should we create an activity log in their pod somewhere - maybe a dedicated private app-state document referenced from the preferences file, what would data look like?
- should we add metadata on the resource?
- Should we add it to the preferences file? If so what would the data look like?
how many items should we keep, when should we delete them?

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the new-design menu and the existing preferences, resource metadata, and pod app-state handling. Done requires a decided storage model, retention and deletion rules, and a scoped implementation plan.
