Description

The style I have tried to go for like in the new message box in the chat itself is to have a prompt like

“log in or sign up to chat with me”

and a small login signup button pair which on a login event is replaced by the actual message input field or chat with me button in thus case

Maybe the login button isn't needed if the user can be directed to use the one at the top of the window - not sure. I kinda like the thing you want to do be replaced by the button to get an account, as direct inducement.

This is how we on board new solid users, so it is important for the flourishing of Solid.

Anything in the UI which needs or is better with being logged n you should say so, and make sure that when they do log in they can immediately continue with what motivated them to get the account. This may involve setting the focus and text cursor for example.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are identified in the issue, so start by locating the profile-pane UI actions that require authentication. Done means those actions explain the need to log in or sign up, provide an appropriate account entry point, and let users immediately continue what they started after logging in, including focus where needed.
