Description
Following the discussion in #95, it would be good to strengthen testing by adding tests for the biggest downstream users: DI, SciML, Turing. Opening this issue to keep track.

Research direction
Read the discussion in issue #95 first to understand the intended downstream coverage. Then inspect the repository's existing test entry points and determine how DI, SciML, and Turing should be exercised. Done means the agreed downstream-user tests are added and pass with the existing test suite.
