Template body is deleted when editing

Description
When I select a template in the email composer it is possible to add more text to the email, but when I press backspace the whole body is deleted. It seems this only happens on templates with merge fields. When I select a template without merge fields I can delete characters from the body. Sending the email works fine, it's only a problem when I want to add and delete something from the email body
