Description

While inotify already appears to be used for directory watches, we can use JNA to setup a file watch using inotify. This would reduce the costs of a full directory watch in case we only need to monitor a single path.

Research direction

Start by locating the existing directory-watch implementation that uses inotify and the JNA integration. Compare the single-file monitoring path with the requested inotify approach, then verify that a single path can be monitored without a full directory watch and that existing watcher behavior remains intact.
