Description
Description:
We have upgraded our rocketchat from version 2.x to 4.8.2 (with migration over the versions). Desktop notifications are working, sound for new notification is playing. But the number indicator at the left side for channels is not showing up / or disappearing when the massage is read. It is needed to reload to see the changes. Also applies for status (online, away ..)
Steps to reproduce:
- Get Notification from user
- Sound is played, Desktop notification overlay is shown
- Switch to Rockatchat app, no indicator update for channels
Expected behavior:
Sidebar should update status of users and new massage indicators and remove old indicators
Actual behavior:
Sidebar is not updating status of users and new massage indicators and remove old indicators

Research direction
Start by reproducing the missing sidebar indicators in the Rocket.Chat desktop app using the listed notification steps and client operating systems. Trace the desktop app's sidebar updates for channel messages and user status; done means indicators appear and clear without reloading while sound and desktop notifications continue to work.
