Description

  • Your Rocket.Chat Experimental app version: 4.8.0-beta 0.17442
  • Your Rocket.Chat server version: 3.4.0-develop (extreme threads)
  • Device (or Simulator) you're running with: Samsung S10+

Easiest to reproduce:

  1. choose a small sized gif/png in file / gallery app

  2. rename to add a '#' to name -- for example 20200609#230011.jpg

  3. share + upload to a channel

Observe:

  1. preview is broken during upload

  2. upload totally fails

Research direction

Reproduce the issue on the React Native app by sharing a small image whose filename contains #, following the steps in the report. Trace the upload and preview path from that reproduction; done means the file previews correctly and uploads successfully with the # retained in its name.
