Description

The current package provider for debian/ubuntu is apt-get. The problem with this is, that aptitude uses different algorithms to detect dependencies and updates.

So it would be good to have a second package provider for debian/ubuntu that uses aptitude.

Research direction

Start by locating the existing Debian/Ubuntu apt-get package provider and its provider interface. Read how package installation and dependency updates are handled there, then add a separate aptitude-backed provider; done means Debian/Ubuntu users can select it and it follows aptitude's dependency and update behavior. The issue names no files or tests.
