Description
After many years, I've been working on this project again.
Statistics show there are still thousands of installs per month and loyal 0.x users:
https://packagist.org/packages/respect/rest/stats
My goal is to plan for the future, with PHP 8.5 in mind, keeping the original lean spirit of the library.
I'll be using the repo's main branch for it, and soon I'll have a more detailed roadmap.

First steps
- Read the whole issue, then the project's contributing guide.

Research direction
Start by reading the project-status message and the repository's main branch; the Packagist statistics link provides context on current usage. No concrete file, test, entry point, or implementation target is identified, so this is not ready for a first contribution until the promised roadmap defines the work and its completion criteria.
