Description

Use Open Source Platforms for Community Discussion

If interested, it would be nice to use Nostr, Lemmy, Signal, XMPP, SimpleX (instead of relying on Discord, Matrix, Telegram, or Reddit) for community discussion.

It would give users a place to help each other out, share ideas, and potentially get occasional input from the developers when they have time.

Open and federated platforms are more aligned with open-source values, reduce vendor lock-in, improve privacy, and make communities more resilient long-term.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the issue's proposal to replace or supplement Discord, Matrix, Telegram, and Reddit with Nostr, Lemmy, Signal, XMPP, or SimpleX. No implementation files, entry points, or tests are identified, so first determine whether ReadYou should host or link to any platform and obtain a concrete scope. Done would require an agreed platform choice and an explicit implementation plan.
