Description

1. Environment

  • Device: [Samsung Galaxy M34]
  • OS: [Android 14]
  • APP: [0.12.1]

2. Describe the bug

When adding a variable font file the app apparently does not recognize the variations, for example, if i set Bold to the title in the reading settings, it does not change into Bold, but instead continues with the current one style. This behavior happens with JetBrains Mono font - you can obtain it here, after extract the file you find the "variable" folder and select the regular one, not the italic.

Research direction

Reproduce the issue on Android 14 with app version 0.12.1 using the regular JetBrains Mono variable font from its variable folder. Start by tracing how the selected font is loaded and how the reading-settings title applies Bold; done means the title visibly uses the requested bold variation.
