Description

I don't have a short snippet to reproduce the issue (yet), but it seems that files served with static bring the whole application down if the user decides to cancel the download. No upstream bug report yet.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the crash when a download of a file served with static is canceled. Trace the static-file download path and capture the failure, since the issue provides no snippet, file, or test to begin from. Done means canceling such a download no longer brings down the application, with a regression test if the relevant test location is identified.
