Description
<MasterDuke> btw, speaking of comparing, it looks like some of the changes in https://github.com/perl6/whateverable/commit/bbede988f697ed4b0c6598a4d471a1653678b8b2 clobbered some of the changes from https://github.com/perl6/whateverable/commit/962dc22caa500808b368f4983a9585c2b48a8eca
Indeed! And there were no tests, so I didn't notice.

Research direction
Compare commits bbede988f697ed4b0c6598a4d471a1653678b8b2 and 962dc22caa500808b368f4983a9585c2b48a8eca to identify which changes were lost during refactoring. Start by reviewing the differences between those commits; add tests for the recovered behavior. Done means the lost changes are restored and covered by tests.
