Description

Hello,

Great app! Thank you! I have a feature request for your consideration.

Viewing embedded images from the Front Page is a very smooth, experience. However opening external links such as YouTube, Instagram, random Blog, etc is less smooth as that page's other content (besides just the photo/video) has to load.

I'm always irritated when I accidentally click a link to YouTube, or some guys random blog when I'm trying to just quickly cycle through some content. It's jarring because it takes so much longer to load all of that "non-primary-image" content.

I know that the link info in parenthesis indicates where the link is going (i.redd.it, v.redd.it, self.subreddit, i.imgur.com, youtu.be etc) but this is SO subtle that I rarely notice it before clicking on an interesting looking picture.

I think it would be great if the "destination" of the post was indicated by something like a thin colored border around the image. Perhaps...

  • "clean" links (such as i.reddi.it, v.redd.it) remain borderless
  • "clean" albums (i.imgur.com) get a grey (are greyish-blue or greyish-red) border
  • "uglier" links (youtu.be, random blog) get a red or blue border

Thanks for your consideration.

Research direction

Start by locating the Front Page browsing and embedded-image rendering entry points, then trace how external destinations such as YouTube, Instagram, blogs, Reddit media, and Imgur are identified. Done means the destination is visibly distinguished while clean links remain unobtrusive, with the visual treatment covering the examples described in the request.
