Description
sphinx can build an index genindex.html which could be incorporated into the theme for index support (similar to a book)? However perhaps search is better in the html context?

Research direction
Start with the generated genindex.html and the linked lecture issue to determine whether index support or search is intended in the HTML context. Done means the chosen behavior is incorporated into the theme and can be verified in a generated HTML book.
