Describe the bug
Whenever I click on a Hyperlink while using QuickLook it gives me a "Sorry, navigation not allowed" popup.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to 'Check for updates via right click on taskbar icon in the system tray'
- Click on 'any blue Hyperlink in the .md changelog file that QL displays'
- See above answer
- See error "Sorry, navigation not allowed"
Expected behavior
I would expect QL to open my default web browser and navigate to the selected hyperlink. Which would be the official QL github page.
Desktop (please complete the following information):
-
OS Version:
Edition: Windows 11 Pro
Version: 25H2
Installed on: 2/22/2026
OS build: 26200.8328
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.304.0 -
QuickLook Version: [4.4.0 QL-Win I honestly can't remember if it's the msi version or windows store but I'm almost positive it's the msi version because QL never auto updates and I always come to the github page to download the latest version. While I haven't installed 4.5.0 yet I can say that this has been an issue for me for multiple versions now and I can't honestly remember the last time it opened a hyperlink. So it's been a while. Sorry for the vague timeline.

UPDATE: After navigating to the above link regarding where my log files are saved I can confirm that my QL is the MSI version.

Research direction
Reproduce the issue in the MSI version by using the taskbar icon's Check for updates action and clicking a link in the displayed .md changelog. Start with the attached QuickLook.Exception.log; the fix is complete when hyperlinks open the user's default web browser instead of showing the navigation-not-allowed message.
