Description

Previously, I was able to preview video files (like .mp4) directly in QuickLook without installing any additional plugins. However, now when I press the Space key on a video file, QuickLook opens a window but only displays a static image — the video doesn't play at all. No audio, no motion.

1Install QuickLook (base app only)

2Open File Explorer

3Select a video file (e.g. .mp4)

4Press the Space key

5QuickLook opens a window showing a static image of the video, but it doesn't play

The video should play normally (with audio and motion) as it used to, without requiring any external plugins.

OS Version: Windows 10

QuickLook Version: 4.0.2 (installed from GitHub MSI)

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue on Windows 10 with QuickLook 4.0.2 from the GitHub MSI, using an .mp4 selected in File Explorer and pressing Space. The payload names no files or tests, so trace the video-preview path from that entry point. Done means video previews play with audio and motion without external plugins.
