Description

In build_scenarios, custom configurations of the sector parameter get overwritten within the function write_to_scenario_yaml. A check if the key already exists is required:

if "sector" not in config[scenario]:
            config[scenario]["sector"] = {}

Research direction

Open scripts/pypsa-de/build_scenarios.py around line 187 and inspect build_scenarios and write_to_scenario_yaml. Check how config[scenario]["sector"] is assigned, then run the scenario-building workflow to confirm existing sector configurations are preserved in the generated scenario YAML.
