Research direction

Start by checking the CI test output and the upstream VS Code issue #196948, which the report identifies as the blocking dependency. Confirm whether that issue is closed and whether the invalid debug adapter messages remain; done means the cosmetic errors no longer appear in the tests or their upstream cause has been addressed.
