Description

Prerequisites
  • I have written a descriptive issue title.
  • I have searched all issues to ensure it has not already been reported.
  • I have read the troubleshooting guide.
  • I am sure this issue is with the extension itself and does not reproduce in a standalone PowerShell instance.
  • I have verified that I am using the latest version of Visual Studio Code and the PowerShell extension.
Summary

When you use F8 over highlighted code it's pasted without any colors. If you copy/paste (or type) the colors are there.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in the PowerShell extension with F8 on highlighted PowerShell code, then compare the console output with copy/paste or typed input. Done means F8 execution preserves the same console colors as the other execution paths.
