Description

[Maryland's tax expenditure report](https://dbm.maryland.gov/budget/taxexpendreports/FY2020TaxExpenditureReport.pdf#page=54) shows budgetary impacts of several tax credits. 2020 is the most recent year. It finds:

| MD program | Tax expenditure report | Our estimate (2022 law, 2020 data) |
| - | - | - |
| MD EITC | $270.4M (88.8 non-refundable + 181.6 refundable) | [$274M](https://policyengine.github.io/policyengine-us//gov/states/md/tax/income/credits/eitc.html#budgetary-impact) |
| Poverty line credit | $35.3M | [$18.4M](https://policyengine.github.io/policyengine-us//gov/states/md/tax/income/credits/poverty-line-credit.html#budgetary-impact) |
| MD CDCC | $8.1M | [$13.2M](https://policyengine.github.io/policyengine-us//gov/states/md/tax/income/credits/cdcc.html#budgetary-impact) |

Research direction

No notebook file or test is named. Locate the notebooks that present Maryland tax-credit budgetary impacts, then compare the MD EITC, poverty line credit, and MD CDCC estimates with the cited FY2020 tax expenditure report; done means the comparisons are included in the relevant notebooks.
