Description

See http://taxsim.nber.org/out2psl/1168

PE and TA agree on tax before credits, but PE allows an unspecified credit of $138. I think this may be the retirement income credit, which TA disallows because taxable income is greater than $100,000. See page 27 of

Research direction

Start by reproducing case 1168 at http://taxsim.nber.org/out2psl/1168 and compare PolicyEngine with TAXSIM for Ohio joint filers. Read page 27 of the 2023 Ohio IT 1040 instruction booklet to verify whether the $138 credit is the retirement income credit and its $100,000 taxable-income threshold. Done means the credit treatment agrees with the documented Ohio rules.
