Description

(1) What is the threshold age for the assignment of pension income to a taxpayer? That is if one taxpayer is older than the threshold, and one is younger, all the income is assigned to the older one, right? But what is the threshold age?

(2) New Jersey pension exclusion depends on choice of Pension Rule or General Rule and then requires data we don't have, (contributions and first 3 years of payments or previously taxed and expected return). What does PE do?

Research direction

No file or test is named. Start by locating the pension-income assignment and New Jersey pension-exclusion logic, then verify the threshold-age rule and what data the Pension Exclusion calculation requires. Done means the two questions have documented, unambiguous answers.
