Description

What characteristics are assumed for scorp income by PE?

  1. material participation/no material participation
  2. passive/active/portfolio
  3. SECA/FICA/none
  4. QBID with phaseout/QBID without phaseout/no QBID
  5. NIIT/Additional Medicare

As far as I can tell, all of these are possible, some are unlikely.

I would suggest we assume

  1. no material participation
  2. passive
  3. no FICA/SECA
  4. QBID without phaseout
  5. NIIT

No file, test, or entry point is named. Start by locating how the PolicyEngine US federal and state tax calculator handles S-corporation income, then review the five listed treatment categories with maintainers; done means an agreed set of assumptions is implemented and covered by tests.
